There are no restaurants within walking distance from the resort, so we called for room service every night. The room service menu is actually identical to the lunch/dinner menu at the main hotel restaurant, but we opted to eat in mainly because we were stuck in the room from 7.30pm onwards. That is the time when the boys have finished their dinner and are starting to get ready for bed because when they skip their afternoon naps (which they did since it’s a holiday) they don’t usually last beyond 9.00pm. The boys ate from the room service menu as well. They would have items like chicken with potatoes (they finished all the chicken between the two of them!) and Thai fried rice (orders can be customized so we would ask for their food to be non spicy and to be egg-less). We would usually order our food 1-2 hours after theirs so that we can eat peacefully when they’ve gone off to sleep. My favourite item of all time from the room service menu was definitely the tom yum soup! That was soooooo yummy that I had to order it three nights in a row (I asked for different ingredients in the soup each time) while Kok Loon went for the spicy items such as the red curry (container of curry not in the picture) with roasted duck with fruits.

All the items we ordered turned out to be really good. If I had to choose my least favourite item from the room service menu, it would be the fried vanilla ice cream (the brown ball) in coconut milk because that was way too sweet for me (J: If you’re reading this, I think you might like something like this). Our phad thai came with a pretty decorative yellow sheet that seems to be egg, but I’m not really sure because how can you get an egg to look like that?
More food pictures to share … because the boys’ Thai fried rice turned out to be very nice, we adults tried the same dish but with prawns this time round. We also tried appetizer items like the poh piah (with prawn and pork?) and satay but they aren’t as nice as the mains. Kok Loon’s favourite item from the room service menu is the beef burger. the picture doesn’t really look like it but he was stuffed after finishing that plate of food. And my prawn and mushroom tom yum soup yet again came with ultra prawns on one of the nights.

On the last night, I decided that I should try a non-Thai main so I opted for smoked salmon bagel which was nice, but it can’t beat the Thai mains. The hotel front desk manager sent us a complimentary tiramisu cake for Titus’ birthday (so sweet of her!) because she saw us trying to purchase a cake at the pastry shop that morning (and asked us what occasion it was). Took a picture of some of the Thai food items available on the room service menu.

And now, some pictures to share from the daily breakfast buffet. I was happy that the resort was so child friendly. I’ve never seen a resort/hotel restaurant offer the children with so many choices of plates, bowls and cutlery. Restaurant staff are also more than happy to make cutie pancakes for their little guests. Before I end this post on food, I thought I should mention that my and Titus’ favourite breakfast item was this meatball and mushroom and veg noodle in soup. We ate about three bowls every morning!
good to hear that you all are enjoying the Thai foods particularly my little Titus.
The person who particularly enjoyed the food was Kok Loon, not Titus, haha!
What a yummy spread! I’d love to try the tom yum soup which looks droolicious, and the fried ice cream, haaaa. And the pancake is so cute. Such a thoughtful gesture by the front desk manager… darn good service!
(PS: Tried to leave a comment using my iPhone earlier, but doesn’t seem to work.)
The comment (from your iPhone) actually came through … but it was sitting in my approval box so that’s why it’s not on the blog yet. You can try sending again (through your iPhone) on some other post. Yah, I thought you might like the fried ice cream because it’s so sweet. Haa.
