Children’s Season 2014 started yesterday. The museum was sooooooo crowded when we popped by over the weekend because everyone’s trying out to check out exhibition at the same time! I walked away not enjoying it that much because (1) having to jostle with the crowd marred my enjoyment of the exhibition, (2) I didn’t like the fact that there was so much artwork and (3) I didn’t like the fact that there was so little learning. The curators should have coughed out more space for actual pictures, actual videos, actual childhood-related paraphernalia so that visitors like us can really learn about childhood in yesteryear. Colouring a random piece of artwork doesn’t let you learn about childhood in yesteryear.
That said, we still like the National Museum =) We went back to the film and wayang section of the Singapore Living Galleries because that is T’s favourite exhibition. T watched his 1960s Malay language film clips montage again (and again and again). Thankfully, the small children didn’t swamp the Singapore Living Galleries.
