There are more than 100 museums in Vienna, so it’s tough to pick where to go in the few days we have in this city. We chose to visit the Natural History Museum in Vienna (Naturhistorisches Museum) because it’s educational and likely more fun for the children than a museum of ancient instruments, fine arts, etc. The museum is housed in an impressive building, and the halls are all decked with beautiful wall and ceiling art that is supposed to be enjoyed in the context of the hall exhibits.
There are interactive exhibits in every hall to keep the children busy. They pumped magma, stimulated a meteor explosion, created small bolts of lightning, examined human bones using x-ray/ct scans etc. All in all, a fun day for the whole family!
